About me

I am a qualified counsellor and have been working with clients since 2014. I offer counselling in the Stroud, Cheltenham and Gloucester area.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their strict code of ethical guidelines. I have regular supervision.

I work for the Listening Post Gloucester as a counsellor and Assessor.

My background is in music Education and as a music teacher I have always been interested in working with people. I worked in schools and ran music workshops for teachers. I am a mother and grandmother and I consider myself to be an Elder.

My experience

I have worked with clients young and old, at different stages of their lives and each facing their own unique challenges.

Many of the clients I have worked with found it difficult to come for help at first. We live in a society that gives a message that we should not need help and it is 'Strong' to be able to manage on our own. However we are relational beings and it can be transforming to find a place where it is safe to be ourselves and find someone who will listen with warmth and compassion.

The people I have seen have brought their own unique story, many have found that their lives have become 'stuck', the old patterns and behaviours no longer make sense and they have struggled to find a way forward. Some have had a specific problem that they want to find clarity with, whilst others are interested in longer term work to find a deeper understanding of themselves.

My qualifications

I am qualified with a Diploma in Integrative Transpersonal Counselling from Re-Vision, a training organisation that specialises in offering counselling and psychotherapy services with a soulful perspective.

I regularly attend workshops to deepen my knowledge, skills and understanding. I have attended workshops on: From Shame to Compassion, Personality Disorders, Working with Myth and Fairy Tales, Suicide, Art, BodySoul Rhythms, Mindfulness, Psychotherapy and the Soul, and Dream work.

My approach

I offer an integrative approach that draws on different models and theories such as Jungian ideas, mindfulness, gestalt, archetypal psychology, child development theory, attachment theory, neuroscience, somatic work and eco-psychology. I am interested in the images you bring and will pay attention to your dreams and the messages held in your body. I will tailor my approach to suit your particular needs. I believe we have a calling to be ourselves and if given the right environment, our true self can emerge.
